3. Installing the Surface Velocity Radar#
The surface velocity radar must be installed above the water surface and directed toward the water at an angle. The recommended vertical installation angle is 60° relative to the horizontal plane.
The recommended minimum installation height is 1 meter above the water surface. The theoretical minimum is 20 centimeters above the water surface. The maximum installation height is 30 meters above the water. For optimal performance, the sensor should be positioned above the deepest part of the river channel, to ensure that measurements remain available even during low water levels.
