3.5. Interference and Multiple Radars#

Due to the FMCW modulation technique and very short transmission bursts, multiple VX60 radars can operate in close proximity with very low risk of mutual interference. The radars are not time-synchronized, so overlap of their modulation patterns is typically brief and does not produce measurable degradation in normal installations. In addition, the radar antenna is highly focused and the transmitted power is low. This further reduces the possibility of interference between devices. In Geolux internal tests, 10 radars were operated within 2 meters of each other, and no interference was observed.

The Geolux VX60 can also operate reliably in the presence of other radar systems, including:

  • FMCW radars operating at 60 GHz

  • Radars operating at other frequencies (for example 24 GHz or 80 GHz)

  • Radars using different modulation techniques
